Behind the Wine at Daniel’s Broiler
“Meet the Winemakers” Series is Back!
8/19/2004
SEATTLE – Continuing monthly through August 2005, Daniel’s Broiler on Lake Union is presenting its new year-long Meet the Winemakers series. The public is invited to sample a variety of wines while enjoying informal conversation with the winemaker who has crafted the wine.
Winemakers from all over the region will be popping corks in Daniel’s climate-controlled, glass-walled wine room, where bottles are labeled by bin numbers and stored in Bordeaux cases. Guests will gather around a sturdy wine barrel for the wine tasting and talk one on one with the winemakers about their craftsmanship, as well as learn what Daniel’s menu items pair best with the selected wines. The wines sampled will also be available for diners to enjoy.
This year, for the fourth consecutive year, Wine Spectator magazine honored Daniel’s extensive wine list with an Award of Excellence.
Highlights of this year’s Meet the Winemakers series include the L’Ecole Winery, 2004 Pacific Northwest Winery of the Year; Reininger Winery, crafting elegant and finely- structured reds from ultra premium grapes hand-harvested in the heart of the Walla Walla valley; and exciting newcomer Tsillan (pronounced Chelan) Cellars from Lake Chelan in the newly-forming North Cascades wine region.
Other featured wineries are Terra Blanca Winery, Woodward Canyon Winery, Betz Family Winery, Walla Walla Vinters, Andrew Will Winery, Isenhower Cellars, McCrea Cellars, Dunham Cellars, Chinook Winery, and Whitman Cellars.
The series begins Sept. 9 and runs every second Thursday of the month through August 2005 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. There is a nominal fee for tasting and complimentary appetizers are provided. The full schedule is as follows:
