Hey Chef Mike! Welcome back to Daniel's Broiler!
Thanks! It's great to be back in a place where you feel like you're wanted.

Now that you're back, what did you miss most about Daniel's Broiler?
Washingtonians seem to really like to support their hometown favorite. Schwartz Brothers Restaurants has been around for 38 years! The recipes at Daniel's Broiler are over-the-top! I truly believe that. I forgot how great the food is here. My wife and I came down for dinner the other night and ordered all of our favorites.

How is it being down at Lake Union as opposed to Bellevue?
The Lake Union location has such a beautiful view of the water. It's really fun having the boats out front and being able to enjoy the sunshine and sit out on the deck. Even in the cold weather, it's beautiful down here. Plus, it's in a perfect location to spend the day shopping in downtown Seattle and then hop on the trolley, which lets you off right in front of the restaurant. We have a fabulous happy hour, great for post-holiday shopping recovery.

Speaking of the Holidays, what's going on at Daniel's Broiler Lake Union this season?
We're really excited about our new specials that we just rolled out. Our seafood specials are Pink Pepper Salmon, Mediterranean Mahi Mahi, and Seared Sea Scallops. Chef JJ Ullakko at Daniel's Broiler at Leschi Marina is the mastermind behind these specials. What's really great about them is that we're doing them with seasonal stuff like butternut squash and sage cream. We've also got a new fabulous winter dessert; cream puffs made in-house with pastry cream that is also made in-house. They're topped with a new version of our chocolate sauce and shaved white chocolate. This dessert is to die for!

I heard you also have a great new appetizer on your menu, can you tell me about that?
The Daniel's Petite Lamb Chops are delicious. They're three single bone, lollipop lamb chops marinated in olive oil and rosemary, then mesquite grilled and finished off with our red pepper jelly.

That sounds delicious.

Recipe for the Daniel's Petite Lamb Chops
Daniel's Broiler Petite Lamb Chops
Serves 1 to 2

Recipe:
  • 3 Lamb rib chops total of 8.5 oz.
  • 2 Tbsp. Mick's Pepper Jelly
  • .5 oz. Chicken stock
  • ¼ of a head of Frisée (a type of endive)
  • Kosher salt to taste
  • Rosemary sprig

Method: Season the lamb and grill. Heat the pepper jelly, add chicken stock and reduce until it coats the spoon.

Lay the Lamb chops over the Frisée. Drizzle with the heated pepper jelly. Add salt and rosemary sprig.

On November 1st Schwartz Brothers Restaurants launched the Platinum Rewards Program. The program is a revamped version of our Frequent Diner Program that has been rewarding loyal guests since October 2004. Schwartz Brothers Bakery Sourdough Bread Program
Schwartz Brothers Bakery recently launched its Retail Sourdough Bread program. These tasty rolls, baguettes, and boules can be purchased at local QFC markets and independent grocery stores. Look for the bright green Schwartz Brothers Bakery label located on specialty bread racks or the shelves in the fresh bread section. These are the same great sourdough products that have continued to be served at local seafood favorites, including Chandler's Crabhouse.

These delicious sourdough rolls, baguettes, and boules are the perfect addition to any holiday meal or dinner party.

The Daniel's "Very Special Chocolate" Drink
Recipe for the Daniel's Very Special Chocolate Drink

  • 1.5 oz Hennessy V.S. Cognac
  • 1 oz. Grand Marnier
  • Hot Chocolate
  • Whipped cream
  • Orange wheel

Method:

Heat the glass, add the Hennessy then the Grand Marnier, add steamed hot chocolate, layer with whipped cream, garnish with an orange wheel and enjoy!

Private Dining Coming Soon To Spazzo Italian Grill & Wine Bar
Get ready for another option in Redmond for private meals, parties, events, and corporate functions. Spazzo Italian Grill & Wine Bar, located in Redmond Town Center, will soon be equipped to handle any private group needs. By the end of January 2009, construction will be completed on Spazzo Italian Grill & Wine Bar's two private dining rooms.

One room is located in the back corner of the dining room for added privacy. It can hold up to 16 for a sit-down dinner. The second room is located in the middle of the main dining room. It's a raised section of the dining room that can be converted into a private room through the use of a series of translucent swinging panels made of African mahogany wood and a product called Lumicor (translucent resin panels that allow light into the room without anyone being able to see in). This room can hold up to 40 guests for a sit-down dinner or up to 50 guests for a reception.

If you're planning upcoming private dinners, functions, or events either for families or work groups, consider Spazzo Italian Grill & Wine Bar in Redmond Town Center. Book now for one of two private rooms that will be available starting the end of January 2009.
